Liberian Stars Switch it Up for MLMA 2022

On Saturday November 26, 22, Liberian stars lit up the Ministerial Complex in Congo Town for the 5th annual MLMA. If you live in Liberia and are a stakeholder of the entertainment industry, the MTN Liberia Music Awards is a show you want to be a part of. In the 5 years of its run, the show has grown in a variety of ways. Although, year after year, what seems to maintain steady public interest is the fashion showcase at the event.
In terms of the fashion, this year saw both growth and decline at the same time. To that, 2 times host, Miss Mollyn Jarbo stated; “…to be honest, I was disappointed from the MLMA fashion. Like I’m not a big fashion person, but last year I saw better fashion… the crowd was younger this year.”
Switch It Up
After observing the entire looks delivered this year as compared to the previous years, we can’t help but agree. With the theme Switch It Up, it was clear that many people did not fully understand the theme. To this, show attendee, Delvin Oliver suggested to the Koloqua Dialogues; “I think you all should connect with the MLMA team next year to make sure that they explain what the theme means, and what they expect from people.”
Switch It Up to us meant to bring something different and unexpected. For this reason, the Koloqua Dialogues decided to bring some new flavor with our first ever MLMA fashion police. Hosted by our Chief Editor, Adrienne Tingba and fashion critic, Xenalu, we took to IG Live and offered some balanced critique on this year’s looks. From the ratings gathered on the IG Live, coupled with criterium such as overall creativity, originality, and theme representation, we have gathered the best looks of the 2022 MLMA.
