Koloqua Update: It’s time to Get to the Business!

by

You know, sometimes you just have to shake yourself up from the slumber that is stagnating your life. The time is now for me, and it is time to get serious about business – MY Koloqua ™ business.

Starting and maintaining a media brand is not easy. With the times constantly changing, so are people’s interest. As such, it is important that your brand changes as well to reflect the times. Although, the question that constantly arises in that thought process is how to maintain the original vision/mission of your brand, while reflecting the interest of the people. This is a major challenge, but with every challenge, no matter how seemingly difficult, there are ways to overcome it.

For the past year, the US has been my home.  While here, I constantly battled feeling stuck! As a result, I left my mind in Liberia, even though my body was physically out. I then limited my work space to Liberia and felt I could not execute the plans and ideas I had with Koloqua Dialogues™ while in the USA. One whole year later, I am now in the mental space to realize and understand how wrong that was, and just how much it hurt my business. This experience brings me back to changing your business’ operating model to reflect the current time and space.

Although the Koloqua Dialogues brand is focused heavily on telling the stories of Liberia, those stories are not confined to Liberia alone. In fact, according to Liaspora, the United States is home to about 47% of the total Liberian diaspora. This is a market that could have been used to my advantage as a brand during my past year here, but unfortunately, I chose the latter and confined my brand to a single space. Don’t do this.

On the other hand, this mistake I have since realized only accounted for less than one year of my brand’s existence. Having realized it now with understanding that I am only as limited as I allow, Koloqua Dialogues™ now has no bounds. We are back to our original vision, and that is to tell the stories of Liberia, of West Africa, of Africa — no matter where in the world we find ourselves. As I am a woman who loves adventure and exploring new territories, so does the brand that has been created by me – The Koloqua Dialogues™. I do not exist independently of the brand, as it does not exist independently of me. For our mutual benefit and success, we must exist in cohesion, grow in cohesion, and reflect the changes in the times we find ourselves.

It is never too late to reflect on past decisions and adjust as necessary. And so, I say, welcome back to the Koloqua Dialogues™, and welcome to Adrienne Tingba™, the brand. It is an exciting journey we are on, and we look forward to us all growing and learning together. Lets get to the business!
